Past Trip: South India in 2019

In January 2019, six travelers met up with me at the luxurious Taj Coromandel Hotel in Chennai, India. We spent the next fourteen days together, adventuring into the deep south in the State of Tamil Nadu. For all but one, it was their first experience in India.

The trip did not disappoint. Led by Nan Doyle, with expert on-the-ground organizing by Ashish Gupta, the small group met people in their homes, toured the vibrant flower market, watched the sun come up over ancient temples, learned how to cook local dishes, heard stories of disappearing Hindu sects, met potters, weavers, growers and historians. We moved about in a comfortable, air-conditioned mini-coach. We stayed in the finest hotels of the region.
